1. Trust and respect your photographer
- It can be nerve racking to get your photo taken, especially if you haven’t worked with your photographer before. It’s natural. Try not to stress. We are here to try to make you feel as comfortable and as natural as possible while capturing your love and beauty. We will help move you so that you look and feel natural, so that your photos are spectacular.
- Be sure to communicate with your photographer about your expectations and your needs/wants. We will try to accommodate where ever possible. However, be understanding that we may not be able
to capture everything you want.
2. Have some location Ideas
- Try to have a couple ideas of where you’d like to shoot. Specific locations or ideas of backgrounds will help set your style, as well as help you and your photographer prepare.
Ex. Cityscape, barns and wheat fields, forest, etc.
-If possible, find a location that is important to you. It’s a great way to make the photo shoot more meaningful and personal.
3. Choose your clothing carefully
Are you comfortable?
- Not only is it important to be wearing comfortable clothing that you can move in, but it’s also important to feel good in what you are wearing. If you don’t feel comfortable wearing a specific style then avoid it.
Feel empowered in what you are wearing.
·
-Don’t forget about your location. Ladies, if you will be walking
lots and you are wearing heals, bring a pair of shoes that will be easier and more comfortable on your feet for travelling in.
What kind of visual tone are you wanting to create?
- Do you want soft and airy photos? Wear light neutral colours, with soft and flowy materials: Pastels, creams, light browns, tans, light greys.
- Do you want fun and bold? Wear bright, complimentary colours: reds-greens, yellows purples, blues-oranges, etc.
Don’t forget to accessorize. Scarves, hats, headbands, etc. can add to the style of image you are wanting to create.
*It’s Important to coordinate your outfits but
avoid being too matchy-matchy.
4. Keep the weather in mind
- Sunscreen is a must on bright sunny days. It’s important to keep ourselves and our children safe from the elements.
- Don’t be afraid to wear coats or scarves on cool days.
They can be a great accessory.
5. Be well rested and well fed
- It’s important for your family to be at their most happy and comfortable state. No one has fun when they’re hangry. Bring snacks and water to have on the go (This is also a good bribe for little ones to keep them smiling 😉)
- Make sure you and your little ones are well rested.
Be sure to book your session at a time that everyone,
especially the little ones, are at their happiest.
6. Its ok to not always be looking at the camera, but always smile
- Some of the best shots are candid images where you are engaging and interacting with each other. They are more natural
and it’ll show in your eyes and smile.
Eg. Tossing your little one in the air, looking at
each other while walking and talking, etc.
7. Don’t overbook yourself
- Ensure you have ample time before and after your photo session to allow for a relaxed day and to allow for prep/get ready time and travel time.
- When you are late for appointments you become stressed,
which can put a damper on the day.
Plan to be 15 min early to help eliminate addition stress
